Types of Service for our SVdP Ministry:
Caseworkers: Phone neighbors in need to assess what assistance is required, make determination as to whether a referral is needed or what type of assistance we will be able to provide. Information will then be entered into the database. Basic computer skills needed and training is provided with guidelines in place.
Thrift Store: Volunteers needed to accept, sort and tag donations. We also need cashiers and people to keep the clean and in order. Anyone with a truck who is willing to help with furniture pickup would also be greatly appreciated.
Food Pantry: Volunteers needed to help sort food, stock shelves, assist our neighbors in need. Food Pantry is open every Monday from 10AM-2PM Money Counters: Help count the monthly SVdP collection at the church office on the Monday(???) after each SVdP collection.
Special Events/Fundraisers - Volunteers needed to bake and/or serve for Friday Lenten Fish Fries. Volunteers also need to bake and volunteer during other special events. Extension Shelter: SVdP provides meals to the Men's Extension on the 3rd Sunday of the month and the Women's Extension on the 4th Tuesday of the month. The Extension is a rehab facility for people recovering from substance addiction. Cooks are needed for the Men's Extension and servers only for the Women's. After serving the volunteers are invited to stay and eat with the residents.
Bilingual Interpreters for case work and in the pantry.
Thanksgiving: Work with the Knights of Columbus to help with collection of food and cash at the yearly "Begging Weekend". Help box food for distribution.
Christmas: This is also a joint program with the Knights of Columbus. Help bring gifts donated by our parish members to the Knights Hall. Sort and bag gifts and/or help with the Christmas Party for the children.
